(No.7) 90% of Japanese university students get a degree. Only 54% of students in the USA get a degree. Why do you think this is the case?
(In my opinion)
I support the USA.
University is not "school" so university students should start to work for their future and i think this mean is that university students can make their future by themself more freely than high school students or junior high school students.But most of all Japanese university students don't want to do that.They would like to get a degree easily to make their future and Japanese university well known that and they will give credits university students easily. Unfortunately, even my last junior college friends opinions and professors general opinions were so. 90% number shows us Japanese university and students have to chage.
Some people would say that 90% shows that Japanese universities are doing a good job, so I was interested in your opinion about Japanese universities needing to change. It is interesting how statistics can be used to show almost anything that a person wants. There is a famous quote that says, "Lies, damned lies, and statistics." This basically tells us not to believe statistics used in arguments. In what ways do you think Japanese universities need to change?

返信削除In Japan, lots of university students think about more enjoyable things such as trips, shopping...than studying. So, I think the Japanese number(90%) seems very good but in fact, we cannot know whether they have degree with the special skill of the major.
In my opinion,of course Japanese university should be change their style more freely but based on problem is hiding in other school too. A lot of people often say it's difficult thing that debating their own opinion for some Japanese because Japanese school (kindergarten school to university) students didn't have chance to debate or discuss. Most of all school program had already decided by teachers or government. It's the opposite of Hertford House. So it's difficult for Japanese students changing to be more independently than before enter university. In other words,Japanese university and other Japanese school should cooperate to notice that our adults have to think about how do we have to do next generations for improve their independent.
